40-years service with JIS

Kim Tubergen joined Jacob Insurance Service in 1971 after graduating from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Economics. In 1975 Kim became a partner in the agency along with his father Ray Tubergen and his uncle, Wendell Jacob. Kim received his CPCU insurance designation in 1982 and in 1983 started teaching insurance at Tri-State University, as an Adjunct Professor.

 Kim has been very active in both industry and community organizations. In 1997, Kim joined the Executive Board of the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana (IIAI), as State Secretary and worked his way through the ranks culminating in serving as President of his State Association in 2000.

Locally, Kim has served on the board of Cameron Memorial Community Hospital Foundation, past president of United Way and is currently Board Chairman of Steuben County Community Foundation.

32-years service with JIS

Mayor Richard M. “Dick” Hickman has been a partner at Jacob Insurance Service for over 32 years. Dick has been a resident of Steuben County since 1974. Being involved in our community is very important to Dick.

For the last 10 years he has also served his community as the Mayor of the City of Angola. He was a member of the Angola Parks and Recreation Board for 24 years and the Angola Plan Commission for 21 years.

Dick is a 35 year member of Kiwanis and has been a board member on Steuben County Crimestoppers, since it was formed. He is also a member of the Pokagon Shrine and the Angola Masonic Lodge.  Dick and his wife Lynne have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren.  In his spare time, Dick enjoys golfing.

34-years service with JIS

Susan Ralston has been employed with Jacob Insurance Service for over 33 years. A life-long resident of Steuben County, Susan started her position as file clerk while attending Angola High School. Since that time, her duties have expanded to include a licensed property/casualty and life/health agent. Susan presently serves as JIS office manager.

Susan is married to Ed Ralston and has one son, Justin who resides in Maryland. Her hobbies include hockey, reading, travel, spending time with family and friends, as well as volunteering with 4-H, Refugees Read and the Steuben County Community Foundation Scholarship Committee.

Deb Cain began her career with Jacob Insurance over 10 years ago. Deb lives in LaGrange County, graduated from Prairie Heights High School, and attended Indiana University.

Deb worked in the banking industry for over 17 years prior to her current position with Jacob Insurance.

Deb is married to Tim, has 4 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, and 4 grandchildren. She enjoys gardening, spending time with family, and watching the grandchildren grow up.

Geri Garrard has been employed with Jacob Insurance Service for 5 years. Geri has a BA in Education from St. Mary of the Woods College. She moved to Steuben County in December of 1994 with over 15 years experience in banking. She has worked in Angola for over 5 years in banking and 9 years as a licensed property and casualty agent. Geri has two children, Alan and Sarah. Her hobbies include reading, gardening and travel.
